How to Join Valorant Console Beta

Valorant is a Tactical First-Person Shooter (Tac-FPS) game made by Riot Games. It features game mechanics taken from both Counter-Strike (majority of its Tac-FPS elements) and Overwatch (unique characters with special abilities and roles). Just a few weeks ago, Riot announced that Valorant is being tested for a console release. Being one of the biggest games in the world today, with Twitch stream numbers double that of Counter-Strike, it is no doubt that Valorant will be accessible to many players once it gets a proper console release. In this article, we will look at how you can join the beta testing for the console port.

Before we start, it’s good to remember that this is not the first time Riot wanted to port their successful Tac-FPS title to another platform. Back in 2021, they announced a possible mobile version of the game with some gameplay videos leaked. Unfortunately, the news died out for some time and another game with very similar mechanics as Valorant was released in the form of Hyper Front—made by another developer not affiliated with Riot Games.

The news of the Valorant console port has reached a scale that beta testing is available for eligible players. Which means that, compared to the mobile version announcement, the console version may be top priority at Riot Games.

To join the Valorant console beta testing, there are some requirements to be met. Here is the rundown of the requirements:

  • Sign up for Valorant Beta through Riot Games’ official beta testing site or get a referral link from a player who is eligible for beta testing.
  • Must be a resident of NA, EU, or JP.
  • Must have a Valorant/Riot account without any outstanding delinquencies like bans or suspensions.
  • Own either an Xbox Series X/S or a PlayStation 5.

For now, the easiest way to get to the console beta testing is through a referral link as signing up from the website does not guarantee a slot.

Here are the steps to redeem your Valorant console beta key:

PlayStation 5

  1. Go to the PlayStation Store and select your profile.
  2. Select Redeem Code
  3. Enter the 12-digit code and choose Continue.

Xbox Series X/S

  1. Press the Xbox button and select Store.
  2. Press the View button and select Redeem from the side menu.
  3. Enter the 25-digit code and select Next.
  4. Follow the prompts.

Since the game is still in beta testing, some features may or may not be available during its official launch. That said, Riot has ensured that players who have access to the beta will be informed about the latest updates and future testing dates.

They also made Valorant console progress and purchases shared between console and PC. Purchases made during the beta will carry over to the full release. However, cross-platform play is not possible due to the limitations of console players using a pad controller. Peripherals will not be supported.

The console version will also have a different matchmaking rank and rank rating so even if you are high-ranking in the PC version, the console one will be different.

Available game modes are the core non-competitive modes and will feature a mix of old and new maps. Riot aims to release the console version with the same set of maps as the PC version.
